  • Adverse final outcome

What would you advise a patient to do concerning an adverse final outcome and give your rationale for management?

    – Periodontal and root resorption

This is kind of tricky because we are done with movement. So aside from regular visits with the dentist what can be done?

Joti, here are a few things I think of with this prompt.

    • Referral to specialist based on concern

    • Radiographic follow-ups if root resorption

    • Referral for restorations

    • Referral for implants

    • Urge maximum retainer wear (perio, root length, mobility, etc.)

    • Inform patient of the specific adverse outcome (important with ADA 5 ethics principles)

    • Instruct patient of proper care needed to mitigate risks from the adverse outcome; eg if

demineralization then reinforce proper oral hygiene.

Folks have some other things to suggest?
