    Chinyere,

This is from the ABO’s currently published study guide.

    https://www.americanboardortho.com/media/rbzitbuj/2024_aboclinicalexamstudyguide_v3.pdf

So no grading numbers with the CRE but you should know the values because the sample question from the ABO is “How would you improve the CRE score for this case?” You need to know the values in order to understand what steps you’d take to improve the scores.

hi chad! can you explain the numbers for the CRE you put in your cheat sheet? I’m trying to understand where the .5 came from in OJ. Also, why is an overjet of zero considered satisfactory? couldn’t this mean they are end on?

The 0.5 – 1.5 was the middle ground measurement for overjet with electronic CRE. It looks like that reference has now been taken down since the eCRE has been dropped and instead it is 1-2 is the middle ground.

Also for the casts grading on overjet it’s not the traditional way we measure from facial of man incisor to facial of max incisor.

This is from page 16 of the guide:

“In the anterior region, if the mandibular canines or incisors are not contacting lingual
surfaces of the maxillary canines and incisors, and the distance is 1 mm or less (fig. 28),
then 1 point is scored for each maxillary tooth. If the discrepancy is greater than 1 mm
(fig. 29), then 2 points are scored for each maxillary tooth.”

So it’s the lack of coupling that is measured as excess and scores points.

        Does that help?
