    Amy, big topic for sure!

So the nitty gritty – there are several classic articles that discuss dimensional changes including Moyers, McNamara, Bishara and others. If you have Mosby’s Orthodontic Review – look at Chapter 1 about question 14 and following. Their charts are specific so I can’t paste them here without permission.

Round Two, I’ve seen different folks measure intermolar width and intercanine all different sorts of ways (tip of the crown, gingival heights, etc).

    THE REAL SUMMARY:

It’s not the measurement that is important. It is arch coordination. There are all different sizes of arches. If you are talking about the evaluation sheet then we measure those items to consider our management of the transverse of the molars. Mandibular Intercanine width increase greater than 2mm during treatemnet (in absence of extractions) is more prone to relapse

Does that get towards the question you are asking? Keep it up!
