Clarification on Treatment Objective HOLD
Hi,
Just wanted a little clarification for terminology.
When a Tx Objective is to “HOLD” — does this mean we still expect normal growth changes and it’s just a matter of preventing any treatment effects?
AKA for a high angle growing patient, we should control the vertical and so our tx objective may be to “HOLD” vertical position of molars, but does this mean we’d still expect the molars to erupt with their normal hyperdivergent growth tendencies and instead we are just being mindful not to do anything treatment-wise that would worsen the vertical? Would it be better to put “intrude” molars instead of writing “HOLD” as a tx objective in this instance so that there could be an actual influence of minimizing hyperdivergent tendencies, or is it a bad idea to write both (aka you’d definitely want vertical control, but even better than that would be some active treatment mechanics to influence pattern of growth)?
Thanks
