    Thank you for all your help, as I go back through the cases to sharpen my skills I had a question regarding CVMS and CS staging.

    In one of the module cases attached below you indicate the patient is either CVMS2 or CS3, followed by the explanation that C2 is concave and C3 is straight.

    I understand McNamara’s article is the CVM method however isn’t his staging denoted as “CS1-CS6” whereas the previous staging was referred to by CVMSI-IV.

    By your explanation, which I agree with, C2 is concave, and C3 remains flat with C3 and C4 being trapezoidal in shape. So wouldn’t this be “CS2”?

    Dr Sawsan,

    You are correct. I’ve got this one flagged for correction. A concavity of C2 and level C3 is CS2.

    We’ve kept the historical reference for both because training still varies widely in residencies and folks practices.
