mod 3 case 2 prompt 4
Posted by Dane Lenaker on February 19, 2023 at 2:33 pmSome of these objectives conflict, don’t they, ie:
Advance pog/increase SNB and
Clockwise rotation to increase LFH

Dane, good question here.
The difference on the domain questions is “ideal objectives” vs ” treatment plan”
In a non-surgical treatment plan they would be contrary down right impossible objectives to achieve.
However, those objectives are achievable with a surgical treatment plan.
Does that make sense? It’s tempting in our fast paced practice to jump into treatment but the domains of the ABO exam want us to segment our thinking a bit before going into treatment.
Good thing to bring up!

Following up with this question:
One of the answer for skeletal tx objectives was reduce facial convexity.
Wouldn’t that be a soft tissue tx objective and not a skeletal tx objective?
-
I am wondering if facial convexity is a soft-tissue objective as well. I also have some other questions:
-Are we allowed to write “Decrease ANB” if it is not listed on the official ABO Recommended Treatment Objectives Terminology?
-What is the rationale behind expansion at maxillary molars? It seems to me more appropriate to expand at the premolars. I would also consider adding “Alter archform to ovoid”
Thank you

One more question:
-Would Extrude U6’s be appropriate to increase LFH? Should it be written on the exam with that explanation “Extrude U6’s to increase LFH” or is simply “Extrude U6’s” sufficient since that is how it is listed on the ABO Recommended Treatment Objectives Terminology?
Thank you again.
