Hi! Would it be incorrect to include ‘decreased Lower ant. facial height’ in soft tissues findings for prompt 1? its included for skeletal findings in prompt 2. I feel like its noticeable from soft tissue profile as well. thanks!

      Good question!

FMA is generally considered normal at 25 degrees +/- 4 degrees. (I’ve also included this on the quick reference study sheet)

Lower Anterior Face Height could be linearly measured or can be ratio from the Anterior/Posterior. It MAY correlate with FMA (e.g. a steep FMA, hyperdivergent …. AND also increased LAFH) but it does not necessarily always correlate. Think about someone with a deficient vertical ramus height – so they appear with a steep FMA but in reality its a normal LAFH from your soft tissue diagnosis and the issue is ramus height.

Does that help? You’re making good progress through the course

    Nice observation!

You can definitely say decreased LAFH from the soft tissue. It is a visual assessment and I agree it can be seen.
