My Courses Forums Synapse Orthodontics: General Superimposition

I AM STRUGGLING with these, if you squint your eye really hard maybe I get these right. I dont understand the following on this superimposition (22 month treatment time):

-Retracted A point due to treatment. I See A point moved in the overall superimposition but the maxilla grew down and forward so it should move. in max superimposition it looks the same to me…

-The maxillary incisor was retracted- I put retroclined because only the crown tipped back not the root- to me retraction is bodily movement.

-Mandibular molar mesialized with growth. I thought it was slightly more than growth.

    – Mandibular incisor moved forward and extruded as expected from growth. I thought both were less than expected from growth.

    I feel like i’m pulling hairs here…

I completely understanding the squinting at these!

The best advice I have at this point is that for an exam situation that it should be CLEAR if there is or is not a treatment effect. If we “expect” on average 1.5mm movement for a case then the answer is not going to be recognize 1.4mm vs. 1.6mm for a treatment effect.

For the max incisor I think looking at the U1-NA helps for retraction thoughts there (though I understand the roots).
